Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to oversee our Water Spider team, Shipping & Receiving operations, and Inventory Control processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless material flow, accurate inventory management, and efficient shipping and receiving activities in a high-velocity manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, and the agility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team comprising Water Spiders, Shipping & Receiving Clerks, and Inventory Specialists.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team performance and adherence to lean practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety.
- Coordinate the activities of Water Spiders to ensure timely replenishment of materials at workstations, minimizing production downtime.
- Implement standardized routes and schedules for material delivery and waste removal, aligning with lean methodologies.
- Monitor and adjust Water Spider workflows to respond to production changes and urgent requirements.
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring accurate and timely processing of shipments.
- Establish and maintain relationships with carriers and suppliers to optimize delivery schedules and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies related to shipping and receiving.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular audits and cycle counts.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize discrepancies and obsolescence.
- Utilize inventory management systems to track stock levels and forecast needs.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements across Water Spider activities, shipping/receiving, and inventory management.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to implement lean tools such as 5S and Kanban.
- Analyze key performance indicators to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5 + years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Lean Six Sigma certification, preferred
- Experience with implementing and managing Water Spider roles in a manufacturing setting, preferred
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance in warehouse operations.
Working Conditions
- Primarily based in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- May require standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary to meet operational demands
