WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The Director, Project Management is responsible for leading the project execution team comprised of Project Managers, Production Managers, Account Managers, and Project Coordinators. This leader ensures the successful scoping, planning, and delivery of projects and events from start to finish by empowering teams and aligning cross-functional resources across the organization. They must evolve their teams to match the changing needs of the business, while providing career paths, comprehensive training, and strong, scalable processes. This role also plays a critical role in strengthening cross-functional collaboration and integrating project execution within the broader organizational strategy.
This role requires strong strategic thinking, proven experience in building and managing scalable processes, and a commitment to mentoring and developing teams to meet the high standards of Wasserman Live. This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, inspire, and manage a cross-functional project execution team, including Project Managers, Production Managers, Account Delivery Managers, and Project Coordinators.
- Design and implement scalable org structures aligned to business needs.
- Build career paths and succession plans; lead performance management and talent development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Execution & Delivery:
- Provide strategic oversight to ensure that all events, projects, and jobs are effectively scoped, planned, and executed by the project team from initiation through completion.
- Ensure steering committees are established for all major events to provide organizational visibility, mitigate risks, and provide cross-functional support to ensure project success.
- Drive accountability for on-time, on-budget delivery by setting expectations, aligning resources, and enabling high-performance execution across complex, high-volume initiatives.
- Assign the right resources to the right events in the right roles, ensuring optimal use of talent and clear alignment with project needs.
- Monitor execution trends and intervene when systemic issues, escalations, or delivery risks arise.
- Establish and continuously improve standardized delivery processes, tools, and best practices to promote efficiency and quality across teams.
- Champion a culture of proactive communication, ownership, and cross-functional coordination within the execution team.
Strategic & Operational Management:
- Partner with leadership on long-term planning, capacity management, and organizational readiness for peak periods (e.g., major events like the Super Bowl) and effective use of non-peak periods for training and learning opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement of end-to-end project lifecycle processes, documentation, and delivery standards.
- Oversee effective workflows for project intake, estimating, scoping, scheduling, and client delivery.
- Own and evolve KPIs and dashboards to track project health, margin, timeline adherence, and client satisfaction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Act as the organizational integrator for all functions contributing to project execution — ensuring alignment, ownership, and seamless handoffs across Sales, Solutions Group, Design, Fabrication, Print, Install, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
- Build trusted relationships with functional leaders to ensure proactive issue resolution and alignment of priorities.
- Drive the integration of business systems, communication practices, and shared goals.
Training, Processes & Systems:
- Build a culture of operational excellence by scaling onboarding, training, and SOPs that elevate performance and reduce execution risk.
- Develop and maintain best practices, playbooks, and knowledge-sharing systems that support consistency and continuous improvement.
- Lead the adoption and effective use of project management and workflow tools across the team.

Strategic Thinking & Execution:
- Ability to connect day-to-day operations with long-term strategic goals.
- Experience establishing KPIs, forecasting, resource planning, and capacity modeling.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity while driving clarity and structure.
Cross-Functional Influence:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to influence at all levels.
- Experience working across departments with competing priorities and complex dependencies.
Technical & Tool Proficiency:
- Fluency in project and workflow tools (Smartsheet, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, or similar).
- ERP/financial systems experience strongly preferred.
- Strong documentation and process mapping skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in live events, experiential marketing, production, or related creative services industries strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders and sites.
