Position Purpose:
As a freelance Touring Crew Member, you’ll support touring productions by ensuring the safe and efficient setup, operation, and teardown of show systems. You’ll work closely with TAIT’s Integration team and fellow crew members to uphold the highest standards of safety, functionality, and professionalism on the road.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload trucks at show sites
- Set up and maintain automation and show systems to TAIT standards
- Collaborate with TAIT Integration and other crew members on-site
- Communicate show progress and technical issues to TAIT contacts
- Adapt quickly to changing show needs and solve problems under pressure.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of automation entertainment industry experience, touring preferred
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- A proactive attitude, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
Working Conditions:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a freelancer to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The freelancer is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, at least 10 hours or more.
- Must be able to lift or move at least 30 lbs or more.
- Must be able to carry at least 30 lbs or more.
- Must be able to pull or push at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outside of standard office business hours including extended time frames.
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments with changing weather conditions.
- Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions
- Must be able to work and live in close quarters with others during the extent of tours and gigs
- Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
- Ability to work in “entertainment conditions” including a wide variety of working places such as shops, dark backstages, catwalks at height, construction areas, and cruise ships.
